Who You Are

As a Youth Justice Officer for the Youth Justice Service in St Helens, you are a dedicated professional skilled in developing trauma-informed approaches for assessments, planning, and interventions with children and families who have encountered Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). You are experienced in working with adolescents and multi-agency teams, and hold a professional qualification relevant to working with children. You exhibit flexibility, resilience, and the ability to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends. You are capable of maintaining composure while dealing with distressed or challenging individuals and can collaborate effectively across various agencies.

What the Job Involves

You will manage a diverse caseload of youth justice children, aiming to deliver creative interventions that improve their social skills and societal participation. By working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will manage all aspects of case management, ensuring compliance with local and national standards. You will engage children and families throughout the assessment, review, and intervention stages, employing screening tools to manage risk and welfare effectively. Additionally, you will represent Youth Justice in court, act as a lead professional for cases, and collaborate with partners to develop resilience in children and families. You are also expected to adopt a restorative approach, prepare and run group work programmes, and adhere to data protection and equality policies. The job requires frequent attendance at various settings and may involve some home visits outside typical hours.
