A technical professional with substantial experience in building construction and surveying, you possess a comprehensive understanding of housing improvements and adaptations. You are self-motivated, dependable, and committed to delivering high standards of customer service and care. You have a focus on team achievements and are flexible, adaptable, and capable of managing a varied workload efficiently.

What the Job Involves

This role supports the Principal Housing Improvement Officer in providing a robust Home Improvement Service. You will assess adaptation requirements in line with legislation, execute design work, and manage the delivery of work to a high standard. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing detailed advice and information to clients on available grants and loans.
  • Overseeing all technical aspects of the Housing grants/loans process from enquiry to completion.
  • Inspecting properties under relevant standards to prepare detailed plans and specifications for eligible works.
  • Administering and monitoring contracts, and checking quality of workmanship.
  • Liaising with Occupational Therapists, clients, and partners to design cost-effective adaptations.
  • Maintaining detailed records and assisting with performance targets and reports.
  • Participating in meetings, training, and development activities, and staying updated with industry changes.

Skills

  • Qualified to at least HND/HNC level in Building Construction/Surveying
  • Experience in residential building, surveying, and Housing Health and Safety Rating System
  • Proficient in CAD and maintaining schedules of rates
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational and prioritization abilities
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Empathy for needs of the disabled and elderly
