Job Description: Best Interest Assessor

Who You Are

We are seeking a qualified Social Worker who is also an accredited Best Interest Assessor with experience in the Mental Capacity Act and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards legal frameworks. The ideal candidate has a strong track record of undertaking complex Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards assessments, is up to date with annual Best Interest Assessor renewals, and demonstrates strong knowledge of relevant case law. You should be committed to working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to uphold best practice. Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills are essential to ensure that individuals’ best interests are consistently protected.

What the Job Involves

The main purpose of this role is to undertake key social work functions related to assessing deprivations of liberty in line with legislative requirements. You will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments and preparing clear and accurate Best Interest Assessor reports. This role involves providing a professional social work service to adults, their families, and carers, undertaking safeguarding enquiries, managing and evaluating risk, and ensuring people have access to information and advice. The post requires significant interaction with various partners, promoting well-being and optimising opportunities and capacity for choice and control wherever possible.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
