You are an experienced professional with a strong background in customer service and working with vulnerable clients. You possess in-depth knowledge of current housing, immigration, and relevant legislation. With excellent communication skills, you can effectively engage with various stakeholders, ensuring that each interaction is managed with empathy and professionalism. You have a strong sense of personal effectiveness and are driven to achieve high levels of accuracy and compliance in your work.

What the Job Involves

As an Allocation Officer, you'll undertake eligibility assessments for potential tenants to ensure the legality and suitability of housing allocations. Your key responsibilities include managing the housing register, coordinating with other departments and agencies to address housing needs, and ensuring compliance with legislation and Slough's policies. You will also be responsible for managing complex social housing applications, keeping accurate records, and identifying potential service improvements in collaboration with the Housing Allocations Manager.

  • Strong understanding of housing, immigration, and related legislation
  • Ability to accurately apply complex legislation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential situations appropriately
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various databases
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Capability to undertake home visits and verify housing applications
  • Experience with NEC (Northgate), Civica, Jigsaw, and Choice-based Lettings
