Who You Are
We are seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with a strong background in grounds maintenance. You should be someone who can work independently, follow clear instructions, and adapt to different environments across the Borough. You'll need to be comfortable working in all weather conditions and interacting with the general public courteously.
What the Job Involves
As part of the Parks team, you will be responsible for maintaining over 100 parks and open spaces in Enfield, including playgrounds, countryside areas, sports pitches, and more. Your duties will extend beyond parks to include maintaining grass verges, green spaces on roads, housing estates, and school grounds. This role requires extensive travel across the Borough daily and involves both team collaboration and independent work.
Skills
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance - Essential
- Basic knowledge of horticultural machinery (e.g., strimmers, hedge cutters) - Essential
- Understanding of Health & Safety regulations - Essential
- Driving licence for up to 3.5 tonne (transit tipper) - Essential
- Experience driving in a London Borough - Desirable
- Plant knowledge - Desirable
- Previous supervisory experience - Advantageous
- Strong work ethic and ability to work unsupervised
- Preparedness for physical tasks and teamwork
- Polite and courteous interaction with the public
