What the Job Involves

This is an exciting opportunity to join Wirral Council as an Advanced Social Work Practitioner. You will take a lead role in ensuring that all operational social work practice involving safeguarding, child protection, and high-level risk meets the highest standards in accordance with relevant legislation and policies. Your responsibilities will include practice leadership, guiding and supporting professionals on complex cases, managing risk, chairing complex meetings, and supporting interventions requiring court work. Additionally, you will work alongside Commissioning and Contracts colleagues to review funding applications, manage risk, and work collaboratively with providers to ensure best practices in case management.

Skills

  • Social Work qualification, registered with HCPC
  • Knowledge of UK legislation relevant to Children and Families
  • Sound assessment and interviewing skills
  • Ability to work effectively in partnership across agencies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient IT skills, e.g., Microsoft Office
  • Experience in safeguarding investigations and risk management
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Commitment to Equality and Diversity
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and organise workload
