Who You Are
You are a passionate and qualified social worker with a commitment to making a difference in the lives of individuals aged 67+ who have physical and sensory disabilities, mental health problems, dementia, and age-related support needs. You possess a relevant Social Work qualification and are registered with Social Work England. You have experience in social care assessments and the care planning process, including safeguarding and understanding the Mental Capacity Act. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.
What the Job Involves
As a social worker in the Later Life Team at St Helens Borough Council, you will undertake social care assessments, identify eligible needs and outcomes, and complete Joint Carers Assessments. You will serve as an Enquiry Practitioner in safeguarding adult cases and make best interest decisions under the Mental Capacity Act. You will be part of a supportive team, receiving regular supervision, training, and appraisals.
Skills
- Social Work qualification (CQSW, DIPSW, CSS, or Degree)
- Registration with Social Work England
- Experience in social care assessment
- Understanding of Mental Capacity Act
- Experience in safeguarding adult cases
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Full driving licence and vehicle access
